Why Teach?
Hi! I'm Kayla House and today I will be sharing with you my motives behind wanting to pursue Education as a career and just what teaching means to me...
My passion for wanting to be an educator has been a lifelong dream. I grew up watching my mother teach and from a very young age observed the way she led and conducted a class full of second or third grade students. My grandma and aunt and so many before them, were educators. As I grew I deeply admired their drive and dedication to wanting to make children's experience in the school system inclusive and special. The way they spoke about their jobs and just how fun filled and creative they were able to be really pushed me into wanting to be a teacher. As well as how they spoke about the visible changes they were making in young children's lives and seeing them get ecstatic about their progress. My passion has always been language arts, however I would like to teach elementary students all of the above. There's a special place in my heart for the children in the community I grew up in. I, personally, was never a standout student. School was not my strong suit and I often felt discouraged in the classrooms I made my way through in Elementary school. I would like to change that narrative for some of the students that might feel like I did, and work in the Round Rock ISD school district.
I'm focusing my degree on early education and would love to teach second graders. I like the age range of second graders in general. But I want to teach a young enough group of kids where I will still be able to embrace creativity and shape their minds into becoming children that want to learn and grow. I would love to create a classroom environment where every child knows that they have a shot at feeling proud of themselves. I have a strong artistic bone and feel as if reading and writing is one of the most important things to learn to enjoy as children develop. It connects them to the world around them and is such a great outlet for any student to become better critical thinkers and gain self awareness. I would aim to harness and display what makes every student unique and push them to become students who are excited about gaining learning.
Hello Kayla, I also love the younger age kids and want to teach those ages! I also love how you like reading and writing!
ReplyDeleteHi Kayla,
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat way to respond to your less than exciting time in schools as a child; to want to create a space for children that allows for and nurtures their creativity and hearts. Best wishes to you this semester!
Hi Kayla! I would also love to teach language arts! I really enjoyed reading how determined and driven you are to become a teacher. And family really does set a huge impact you as well!
